Five Essential Rules
For Designing A Profitable Website
Whether your business is small or
big, the Internet has become a very
important and indispensable tool for
marketing today. A website is one of the
most basic requirements for Internet
marketing. Lots of businesses are realizing
that having a website is no longer an option
but a necessity! Consumers, businesses and
government buyers all use the web to buy
products and services directly and to
research those purchases they will
eventually make offline. Having a
professionally designed website can open a
lot of new avenues and make a huge impact on
the profitability of your business. A
website can be used to sell a product or
service exclusively, to give information, as
a brochure to attract more business or
showcase projects, or even a combination of
things.
A lot of things have to be considered while
designing a website. Here are some important
guidelines to be kept in mind while
designing a good and effective website:
Professional look - It is highly desirable
for your website to have a neat and
professional look and a catchy, easy to
remember name. A poorly designed and
constructed website can make your business
seem small and unreliable.
Easy Navigation – Time is a precious
commodity. Design your website in such a
manner that it is easy to navigate and
visitors can find the information they need
quickly. To facilitate that, put a table of
content (often called a navigational bar) on
your home page. Include a search function
for the web site as well.
Accessibility Information - Customers would
like to know how to contact you. This
information should be readily available on
your website. If it isn't, they may question
your honesty or credibility and move on to a
competitor's website. It pays to have a
"contact us" button on every page of your
web site. The "Contact us " button can lead
to a web page that lists your business name,
business email address, telephone, fax and
other information customers may need to
know.
Product Information – The “content" that
visitors to your site require is information
about the products they want to buy. Make it
easy for them to find your shopping area,
take care that the pages do not take a long
time to load and the visitors can find your
order form easily. Try to keep each page to
no more than 40K. If you use graphics, use
thumbnails with the descriptive text. The
thumbnail-sized photos can be setup as
clickable links to larger versions of the
photo for anyone who wants to see them
enlarged.
Convenient payment options – Lots of people
do not prefer to give out credit card
information over the Internet or shop with a
credit card. To maximize your sales, be sure
you give customers alternate methods for
making a purchase. Easy registration and
Security of Identity and transactions are
also very important.
So follow these simple and effective rules
to design a great website that can have a
tremendous effect on your business and send
your profits soaring high!
